Let’s take a look at how it was created: first, breeders found a special Jamaican landrace with a distinctive caramel aroma. According to local legend, this cannabis began to grow on land that was previously used to grow sugar cane. It is difficult to say whether this is true, but Jamaican cannabis does not always smell like honey and burnt sugar!
The second parent strain was an extremely resinous Cuban indica. The Divine Seeds team chose it for a reason: the “Cuban” also had a special set of terpenes that gave it a sweet aroma; in addition, the abundance of crystals on its tops created the impression that the bush was sprinkled with sugar. The result of crossbreeding and stabilization is Candy indica, which is distinguished by excellent survival and weight indicators. A rare case where beauty is not inferior to reliability!
Appearance of the Candy strain from Divine Seeds
During seed cultivation, Canadian breeders subjected Candy marijuana to various experiments in order to determine the advantages, strengths, and weaknesses of this strain. The future parent plants thrived in any type of soil and substrate – the work carried out at the breeding stage to achieve the healthiest, most resilient, and most efficient root system possible had paid off. In open ground, the experimental samples finished flowering in the Canadian climate and reached a height of 170-180 cm (as in greenhouses). Indoors, the mother plants grew to an average height of 140-155 cm.
The start of flowering was marked by a burst of vegetative growth. When the plants showed their sex (white hairs appeared at the points where the branches joined the stem), their aroma took on fruity tones reminiscent of peach or apricot. Trained specimens could grow significantly in width, covering an area of about 1 m2 with shade. The set of flower mass significantly increased their volume by the middle of flowering, but the strong stem in most cases allowed them to maintain a vertical position without supports. In the last weeks of ripening, the planting smelled of honey and fruit. No problems with pests, fungi, or mold thanks to strong natural immunity.
