Tangie cannabis seeds are, without exaggeration, a champion strain, having won over 20 awards at cannabis competitions and cups (including the Jack Herer Cup, Spannabis, the Karma Cup, Copa Cannabis Uruguay, NW Cannabis Classic, and High Times Cannabis Cup). The first parent strain of this tangerine cannabis is the powerful and super-resistant Skunk #1, and a particularly successful phenotype with high yields and a more fruity aroma was selected for breeding. The second parent was Californian Orange, famous in the 1980s and 1990s, which tipped the terpene balance towards citrus.
In general, Tangie has a complex aromatic composition: terpenes such as caryophyllene and limonene predominate, as well as humulene, pinene, terpinolene, and myrcene. It is difficult to enhance such a powerful pedigree, but Marley Seedbank breeders managed to select a Colombian sativa strain with similar characteristics but higher yield in terms of live weight. Thus, Tangie from Jamaican breeders Marley Seedbank is an extremely successful upgrade based on the original classic genetics.
It’s hard not to be interested in how the plants that produced these excellent seeds developed and looked! Of course, the sweet and sour orange aroma and rare tropical charm were not immediately apparent from the first days, as all seedlings look almost the same. Nevertheless, the young seedlings pleasantly impressed breeders with their survival rate and lack of developmental abnormalities. The vitality inherited from Skunk allowed their root system to easily adapt to different types of soil mixtures and substrates, as well as hydro environments. In general, the plantings had no restrictions and grew with equal success in closed and open ground, greenhouses, and hotbeds.
With the start of flowering, the surge of green mass added 20-35% of the final height to the bushes within 1-2 weeks. Tangie’s inflorescences looked charming, like lilacs – only green. In the early stages, the pungent ammoniacal tones of Skunk were noticeable, but as it matured, the aroma became sweeter. 1-2 weeks before full maturity and pollination, Tangie marijuana gave off an intense honey-orange scent with light earthy notes. A decent amount of resin and a solid weight (up to 500 g per plant, not counting branches, leaves, and stems) give us good reason to expect that this remake of the variety by Jamaican breeding masters will also win prizes in the future!
