John Weed cannabis seeds from Divine Seeds are a massive Sativa strain with a rich woody-fruity aroma, based partly on Thai, Mexican, Colombian, and Afghan landrace genetics. However, the key moment in John Weed’s history was the discovery of a rare population in Nepal! It was there, in the mountainous region, that representatives of Divine Seeds discovered a tribe that had been cultivating and breeding unique cannabis for rituals and ceremonies for centuries. The locals consider the plant sacred and believe that it guides people to the truth, like a wise mentor.
To create John Weed, breeders crossed Himalayan marijuana with the best AK-47 XL phenotype, which is valued for its endurance, stability, and ability to adapt to different conditions. Crossbreeding and further selection resulted in a variety that is not only attractive in appearance and aroma, but also stable: John Weed demonstrated high resistance to mold, pests, and temperature and humidity fluctuations, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation.
John Weed’s aromatic profile turned out to be as vivid as its appearance: the woody-coniferous theme (main) is complemented by notes of ripe mandarins and honey, meadow flowers, and eucalyptus. This splendor comes from a combination of limonene, myrcene, bisabolol, and eucalyptol terpenes.
During the growing season, the variety behaved like a true tropical giant. Just 5-6 weeks after germination, the plants exceeded 100 cm in height! The bushes were distinguished by bright green narrow leaves with elongated fingers, flexible branches, and wide internodes. Indoors, the plants grew mainly in 36-40 liter pots with a light and breathable soil mixture based on coconut fiber and perlite (pH 6.0-6.5). Thanks to these conditions, a powerful root system was formed, which supported active growth during the growing season.
The optimal microclimate parameters were as follows: temperature 22-28°C, humidity in the range of 50-60%, with active ventilation and powerful lighting equipment used in the rooms. Indoors, John Weed reached a height of 165-215 cm, while outdoors, plants often exceeded 260 cm. Due to its vigorous vertical growth, the variety required mandatory training. The most commonly used methods were ScroG and SoG, and the variety was tested with supercropping, mainlining, and various types of pruning. Defoliation was most often used, especially in enclosed spaces.
The flowering phase began after switching to 12/12 and lasted up to 11 weeks, during which the bush was densely covered with fluffy buds that gradually formed large colas. For the sativa genotype, John Weed showed impressive resinous trichome activity! The appearance of the inflorescences was mesmerizing, especially in macro photography: elongated clusters, shimmering with white crystals, were sprinkled with bright orange pistils. By the end of flowering, the lower leaves had lost their nitrogen, turning autumn colors and emphasizing the diversity of this beautiful plant.
In closed ground, the final weight reached 800-1000 g/m², and outdoors, under ideal conditions, up to 1500-2000 g of fresh buds per plant. Full ripening in the open air occurred at the end of October/beginning of November.
