Auto White Widow cannabis seeds are an indica-dominant cannabis strain based on Brazilian and Indian genetics. A distinctive feature of “white” varieties is the striking contrast between the trichomes and the rich green color, which is why the parent plants appear to be dusted with frost when ripe. White Widow was stabilized in the mid-1980s, immediately gaining popularity among connoisseurs and enthusiasts thanks to its beautiful appearance, rich pine-lemon aroma, and impressive stability. In Amsterdam, WW has long held the top spot in popularity rankings, leaving many other hybrids behind.
It is difficult to rely on 100% accurate data about the genealogy of Auto White Widow. According to one of the most common versions, we are dealing with a cross between Brazilian Manga Rosa (sweet floral-fruity aroma) and a landrace from Kerala (a state in southern India). Divine Seeds breeders added a bit of Canadian ruderalis to this bright cocktail, thereby “teaching” White Widow to be cold-resistant. Otherwise, the genotype has remained completely unchanged: bright colors, a signature spicy aroma with hints of citrus and mint.
The following new hybrids have been created based on White Widow: Sugar Daddy, White Berry, White Bhutanese.
Future mother plants in seed production were immediately rooted in pots of final size (12-18 liters), since autoflowers do not tolerate transplanting. As is well known, there are two phenotypes of White Widow: sativa and indica. Divine Seeds breeders chose the second option, as it promised a higher yield in the end. Spoiler alert: they were right! In the middle of the growing season, the plants were trained using the ScroG method, and thanks to the predominance of Indica genes, the bushes showed excellent branching, grew in width, and developed a branched, sturdy structure. Auto White Widow cannabis was not subjected to stressful training, pruning, or breaking for the same reason—autoflowering plants should be protected from stress, especially during vegetation.
So, on days 30-34, white hairs appeared on the nodes, a sign of female sex. By this point, the plants had already developed strong stems and root systems. The breeders changed the fertilization schedule, switched the lighting in the greenhouse to a shorter light day, and the process of flower mass accumulation began, which was mesmerizing. The inflorescences had clear signs of exotic origin, resembling tiny green pineapples. By the 4th-5th week of flowering, the plants were fully “dressed” and transitioned to ripening: the floral tissues produced aromatic resins, flavonoids, terpenes, and essential oils. The humidity indoors had to be reduced to 50-60% to avoid rot.
Upon reaching maturity, Auto White Widow cannabis emitted a sharp, medium-intensity aroma, and its variegated coloration was reminiscent of distant geographical areas. The Canadian ruderalis component made the classic strain 100% compatible with Canada’s cool climate and short summers. Outdoors, maturity was reached in mid-August, with individual plants weighing up to 500 g.
