Auto Red Gorilla Girl XL is a balanced feminized autoflowering strain developed in the laboratories of Spanish seed producer Sweet Seeds. It contains 52.3% indica, 42.3% sativa, and 2.5% ruderalis.
Its main distinguishing feature is its spectacular purple and red flowers. To achieve this trait, breeders crossed Gorilla Girl XL Auto (Gorilla Girl x Sweet Gelato Auto) and Bloody Skunk Auto (Sweet Skunk Auto x Red Poison Auto).
Bloody Skunk Auto is a highly prized specimen from the Spanish seed bank collection called The Red Family. It includes strains that have a 95% chance of producing phenotypes with pink, red, and purple leaves and flowers. It is this strain that has colored the Auto Red Gorilla Girl XL buds red, while Gorilla Glue genetics have increased the production of resin and aromatic terpenes.
The genotype of the new variety has roots in Sour Diesel, Chems Sister, OG Kush, Durban Poison, Sour Dubb, Chocolate Diesel, and Grapefruit. Sweet Seeds was the first to cross the phenotypes of the legendary Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mint and Gorilla Glue.
The following aromatic hydrocarbons have been identified in the flowers: beta-caryophyllene, myrcene, pinene, ocimene, and pulegone. This combination creates an exotic sweet and sour aroma with floral and pine notes.
During the process of genetic stabilization, approximately 85% of all phenotypes acquired striking red and purple colors. This required certain conditions—in the middle of the flowering period, the night temperature had to drop below 8 °C. This triggered the activation of special pigments called anthocyanins.
Auto Red Gorilla Girl XL flowers were distinguished by their elongated conical shape, resembling miniature cypress trees. These spindle-shaped fruits revealed a hybrid structure — very dense inside, which is typical for most Indian varieties, but with long, thin leaves that were more reminiscent of fluffy sativa.
The inflorescences had a pale green sage hue and were decorated with bright orange pistils, and a layer of frosty, shiny trichomes formed over the entire surface — incredibly resinous and aromatic.
Medium-sized bushes – the height of most phenotypes ranged from 60 to 120 cm. At the beginning of flowering, breeders noted an increase in internode distances. The ripening period was 65 days from the moment the seeds sprouted. When planting 6-8 plants per square meter, the yield indoors was 400-500 g/m², outdoors – from 35 to 125 g per bush.
The preferred environment was a warm and sunny, temperate or Mediterranean climate. Stable genetics made Auto Red Gorilla Girl XL resistant to mold and high humidity, with plants sprouting even in rainier and colder regions.
