Auto LSD is an autoflowering indica-dominant hybrid named after a powerful psychedelic drug synthesized by Albert Hofmann in 1938. The genetic ratio of indica and sativa is 72% and 23%. The LSD strain was bred in the Netherlands by crossing the legendary fragrant Skunk #1 with the equally resinous Mazar – 100% pure indica originating from Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan (the main region of growth of Indian landraces). LSD took 3rd place at the High Times Cup festival in 2008. It is one of the most popular strains in Amsterdam’s coffee shops.
Auto LSD is a modernized version of the LSD strain that is completely independent of the light regime. It was created by experienced breeders in the laboratories of 4:20 Seeds. To achieve this, the LSD strain was crossed with a special type of ruderalis, which made the plant adaptable to cold weather conditions, as well as drought and heat. Thanks to its resistance to most insect pests, breeders have successfully grown the plants both indoors and outdoors.
Auto LSD has a sweet aroma with musky tones. Ground buds reveal notes of chestnut and pine needles alongside earthy undertones. Some phenotypes may develop additional creamy accents. The dominant terpenes are myrcene, terpinolene, and pinene.
Myrcene is responsible for the skunk component of Auto LSD. It has an earthy and musky aroma with hints of spice and cloves. Terpinolene is an isomer of another well-known compound, limonene. It creates a pleasant aroma of flowers and herbs with a coniferous undertone.
Pinene not only gave the sensation of a coniferous forest, but is also known for its many beneficial properties that improve memory and cognitive function. Overall, the aroma of Auto LSD was indicative of the characteristics of classic 90s marijuana.
Auto LSD looked like a classic indica with rounded and cone-shaped buds. The manufacturer points out the dense structure of the flowers – during production, breeders had to control the humidity level in the grow rooms within 40-60%. The inflorescences turned out to be very fleshy, grew in dense clusters, and produced a lot of resin. Most of the yield was concentrated along the stem, with flowers growing in a continuous column along the entire height of the plants.
Without special training, the bushes did not differ in strong lateral branching, but after using LST and SCRoG techniques, breeders noted that Auto LSD easily grew in width and resembled a huge flower bed by the end of flowering. In addition, it is known that the use of defoliation techniques affected the final yield. Topping increased the production of auxin, a plant hormone that stimulates cannabis development.
